Diversos distritos de la ciudad fueron golpeados por un intenso temporal, que trajo consigo lluvias y fuertes ráfagas de viento, causando destrozos en toda la provincia de Arequipa. Entre los daños reportados destacan la caída de árboles, la destrucción de un jardín de material prefabricado y el desprendimiento de calaminas. Según el Servicio Nacional de Meteorología e Hidrología (Senamhi), este fenómeno persistirá hasta el 9 de octubre.

El evento se sintió con mayor fuerza pasadas las 15:00 horas del jueves 03 de octubre cuando las ráfagas de viento con velocidades cercanas a los 40 km/h hicieron mella en la ciudad de Arequipa provocando la caída de árboles. En el parque Héroes Navales un árbol de regulares dimensiones se fue abajo por acción de la naturaleza.
ÁRBOL APLASTA CAMIONETA
En tanto, en la novena cuadra de la Av. Luna Pizarro, en Vallecito, las ráfagas de viento hicieron que se desplomará un árbol que terminó aplastando a la camioneta VAF-345. La conductora se salvó de morir de milagro porque el tronco aplastó el lado del conductor. La víctima identificada como Zoila Tejada G. de 67 años fue auxiliada a una clínica particular por los serenos del cercado de Arequipa.
TEMPORAL DESTRUYE AULAS DE PRONOEI
Los vientos huracanados destruyeron las aulas del PRONOEI Ángeles del Sur, situado en la asociación Villa Fontana. El temporal destruyó los módulos prefabricados donde estudian niños de 3 a 5 años. Serenos y miembros de defensa civil llegaron al lugar para custodiar los útiles educativos y trasladarlos hasta el local social de la zona.
Otras zonas afectadas con el desprendimiento de calaminas o viviendas construidas a partir de material prefabricado fueron Mariano Melgar, Yura, Cayma Characato, Chiguata, Miraflores y Hunter.
En las provincias sobre los 3 mil msnm hubo lluvias moderadas como sucedió en Chivay, en la provincia de Caylloma.

El Senamhi, informó que la sierra centro y sur del Perú registrarán nieve, aguanieve, granizo y lluvia, además del incremento de la velocidad del viento. Este evento Meteorológico se presentará del 6 al 9 de octubre, debido a la Depresión Aislada en Niveles Altos (DANA) denominada «Lorenzo».
Especialistas explicaron que esta DANA se desarrollará sobre el Océano Pacífico al sur de Perú. Se prevé lluvia acompañada de descargas eléctricas en la sierra centro y sur, granizo en zonas por encima de los 2600 m s. n. m. y nieve en localidades sobre los 3900 m s. n. m.
Además, se espera el incremento de la velocidad de viento con ráfagas cercanas a los 45 Km/h. En la costa centro y sur se espera el incremento de la temperatura diurna, sin descartar la ocurrencia de lluvia dispersa durante el evento.
